Washington offense vs Dallas Defense:

Pretty simple match up this week, Washington offense has been off to a slow start so it might have been a perfect time for their bye week. Is RGIII healthy? Who cares?!? if you can’t run the ball then whether RGIII is healthy or not is irrelevant. The reason why that offense was so good, it was because they ran on the back of Alfred Morris and it opened up the passing game. In the first 4 games, Morris has run the ball for 296 with 2 TDs. Last year in 4 games, he ran for 376 yards 4 TDs. A small difference but still enough to hurt the team. The offense will go as far as Alfred Morris takes him.

Oh so much talk about last week game, Denver Broncos and Dallas Cowboys. Only one person gets most of the blame….ROMO! If it is raining outside….TONY ROMO FAULT! Government shutdown…..TONY ROMO FAULT! Your spouse cheats on you….Tony Romo fault????? Yes, it has gone too far but that is what you get when you are high paying NFL QB. I think Romo has handle it well and putting it all on his shoulders but Monte Kiffin and that defense have to take some blame too. You can’t give up 51 points and expect to win the game. Yes, I know it was against the GREATEST quarterback to ever grace our planet but still no excuse.

#39 David Amerson: 6’1 194, North Carolina State

2nd round 51st pick, Position- Cornerback

Strengt

+  Good route understanding  so he can break on them and make a play.

+  Knows how to use his hands in pass defense.

+  His best skill, is reading the receiver and reacting to his movement.

+  Does not get called for pass interference.

Needs Improvement:

–          When the ball is in the air then he must turn his head and play the ball.

–          Bites too hard on the double move and does not have the speed to recover.

–          Afraid to hit and allows big runs to happens.

#86 Jordan Reed: 6’3 225, Florida

3rd round 85th pick, Position- Tight End

Strength:

+  Long arms and big hands allow him to snatch the ball out of the air.

+  Does a nice job of disguising run or pass so the defense can’t key in on his assignment.

+  Elusive for a tight end. Has the speed not many have.

Needs Improvement:

–          Must come back for a pass instead of waiting for it.

–          Poor blocker. He will be a liability in the running game.

–          Was not very big in the red zone as you would like.

#72 Travis Fredrick: 6’4 312

1st round 31st pick, Position- Center

Strength:

+  Great job of staying on his block and finishing it.

+  Pushes his block to the second level allowing the running game to open up.

+  Good football IQ. Great understanding of the blitz pickup.

+  Keeps the defensive lineman hands out of the passing lane.

+  Creates enough space for the quarterback so he can step up in the pocket.

Needs Improvement:

–          Hands tend to slip outside the defender’s body which causes him to hold.

–          Pass blocking is below average. Needs to learn how to reload his hip and stop the push in it’s track.

–          Is on the ground way too much. Got to pick up his knees.

#83 Terrance Williams: 6’2 208

3rd round 74th pick, Position- Wide Receiver

Strength:

+  When he is in the open field, he can be elusive and make a small play into a big play.

+  Great speed and can blow the top of the defense.

+  He is nightmare in one on one coverage. Causes too many problems for the DB

+  Has become a big target for Tony Romo in the early season.

Needs Improvement:

–          Makes too many body catches. Need to catch the ball with your hands.

–          Work back to the pass instead of waiting for it.

–          Afraid to go over the middle and take a hit.

–          Lazy route runner. Relies too much on his speed.

Cover 2 defense vs Payton Manning:

It has been a common theme anytime we feature a match up verses Payton Manning. Can the defense slow down the offense??? You will never be able to stop him but can you contain it? Don’t allow big plays to happen behind you. Monte Kiffin is well-known for inventing the “Tampa 2” defense. Hopefully he can work his magic on Sunday.

#92 Sylvester Williams: 6’3 313, North Carolina

1st round 28th pick, Position- Defensive Tackle

Strength:

+  Very explosive off the ball and causes trouble for a slow footed lineman.

+  Tackling skills are above average. Wraps up and throws them down.

Needs Improvement:

–          Can not take on double team and gets himself pushed back. He is too high

for goalline situations.

–          His motor is below average. If he can’t make a big play then he quits or slow

down.

–          Work on getting his hands up in the passing lane.

–          Weak in stunt plays. Too slow to loop around or hit his assignment.

–          Let the lineman block him into a mesh in the middle and can’t be a factor on the play.

#28 Montee Ball: 5’10 214, Wisconsin

2nd round 58th pick, Position- Running Back

Strength:

+  Great job at pressing the hole and forcing defenders  into blocks.

+  His pad level is always lower then the defenders.

+  Has a nose for the end zone with the record in NCAA for most touchdown

in a career.

+  Elusive for a back who is short and stout.

+  Does not quit on the play even if he is stopped in the backfield.

Needs Improvement:

–          Must improve in his pass blocking if he wants to stay on the field.

–          Never expose the ball when diving into the endzone.

–          Waits for the pass instead of coming back for it.

–          Needs to learn the playbook. Almost had a big fumble in week 1 vs Ravens
