Match Up to Watch:

Georgia Offensive line vs Vanderbilt pass rush:

Georgia offensive tackles got exposed last week against Missouri. They had a hard time protecting and we know Vanderbilt coaches want to expose that with blitzes and schemes to confuse them. Will the Georgia counter it by keeping tight end and running back to help or will they run the ball to keep the defense off-balance??? One thing for sure, they need to change-up something because Murray can not get hit that many times or he will find himself on the injury report.

Vanderbilt defense has struggled all season to stop people and they had chances to beat Ole Miss and South Carolina but failed to make a key stop. One thing, they do have going for them. They are 56th in the FBS in sacks with 13.0 early in the season and they have a chance to add to that total against the Bulldogs. There is no question, Aaron Murray IS Georgia offense and if you can get pressure on him then you might have a chance to win the game.

Grade: 60 Late 4th round grade.

Strength:

+  Knows how to use leverage and finish off a block. He is a mauler.

+  Reanchors really well . Does not get pushed back often.

+  Can get low and DRIVE!

Needs Improvement:

–          Hand placement needs to get better if he wants to be a more effective blocker.

–          Doesn’t turn his hips when he pulls. Makes him a little slow pulling to the second level

–          Head gets down which causes him to whiff on blocks.

–          Not as athletic so he is unable to square up his blocks at the second level.

–          Will reach at times and gets out of control.

#88 Arthur Lynch: 6’5 254

Georgia Effort:

This is one of those games where Georgia and Mark Richt would lose. They would play great against a tough opponents but then lay an egg versus a team they should beat. The Bulldogs have played 2 straight tough games and have lost 3 offensive players for the year on knee injuries (RB Keith Marshall, WR Justin Scott-Wesley and WR Micheal Bennett) I am sure they are mentally drained and looking for a break but are not going to get one when they play Missouri Tigers on Saturday.

#47 Kony Ealy- 6’5 247

Redshirt Junior, Position- Defensive End

Grade: 64 Middle 4th round grade

Strength:

+  You can not cut him down. Does a nice job of shoving the block down and staying upright.

+  So strong and his long arms allow him to push a block back.

+  Missouri coaches have compared him to Aldon Smith

+  Get his hands in the passing lane if he doesn’t get to the quarterback.

Needs Improvement:

–          Got to use his hands more if he wants to shed blocks better.

–          Will get caught looking at the ball too much and can’t make a play.

–          Was part of a rotation and never really played a whole drive. Can he play a whole drive and be effective???

–          His motor is disappointing for as athletic he is. He should be flying all over the field

–          Lacks some discipline and gets caught offside a little bit too much.

–          Weak tackler. Dives at the feet instead of driving through his tackles.

Hard Count College Players of the Week: Sept 30, 2013

Offense:

georgia

By far, the greatest game in this early season. LSU vs Georgia lived up to its billing. One team would come with a punch then the other team would come with a counter punch. Just back and forth. It was too bad, that someone had to lose because both teams played so well. When it mattered the most, Aaron Murray came through and got his team a win. Now the Bulldogs are back in the National Championship conversation. With a little over 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter, Murray had to lead his team down the field for a touchdown. Going 4/4 for 55 yards with TD on that final drive. He was clutch and didn’t let the pressure get to him

Defense:

6_724035

A lot of people thought, Ole Miss might be able to pull off an upset against Alabama but the Crimson Tide showed why they are #1 team in the country. The defense seemed to show some weakness after the Texas A&M game. Devall was a menace on the field, having 2 sacks and forcing one fumble. Ole Miss was in the red zone 4 times but failed to score. Seems like Alabama is on there way for another chance at a BCS title.

Match up to Watch:

Zach Mettenberger vs Zach Mettenberger:
Yes, you read it right….the match up is Mettenberger against himself. Everyone has been praising him for his play early in the season. We all knew, he had all the arm talent in the world but does he have it, in between the helmet??? This is big game for him. Can he continue playing well against a tough team?

Senior, Position- Safety

Grade: 79 Early 3rd round grade

Strength:

+  Comes down hill hard and fast. Gets into the backfield and stops the run.

+  Takes on blocks at the point of attack instead of waiting for the block.

+  Always takes good angels on tackles, putting himself in good position.

+  Can make plays in the open field after an interceptions.

Needs Improvement:

–          Weak in man to man coverage and gets beaten down the field.

–          Way too high. Must bend his knees and keep his butt down throughout the play.

11733306-large
