Vanderbilt Stadium, NASHVILLE, TN
Mostly Cloudy
- Chance of rain: 0%
- Wind: W at 9 mph
- Humidity: 62%
- Stats of the Day:
- In the 3 wins against ranked opponents, Georgia had a total of 1 turnover. In the 2 losses against ranked opponents, they had a total of 6 turnovers.
- Match Up to Watch:
- Georgia Offensive line vs Vanderbilt pass rush:
- Georgia offensive tackles got exposed last week against Missouri. They had a hard time protecting and we know Vanderbilt coaches want to expose that with blitzes and schemes to confuse them. Will the Georgia counter it by keeping tight end and running back to help or will they run the ball to keep the defense off-balance??? One thing for sure, they need to change-up something because Murray can not get hit that many times or he will find himself on the injury report.
- Vanderbilt defense has struggled all season to stop people and they had chances to beat Ole Miss and South Carolina but failed to make a key stop. One thing, they do have going for them. They are 56th in the FBS in sacks with 13.0 early in the season and they have a chance to add to that total against the Bulldogs. There is no question, Aaron Murray IS Georgia offense and if you can get pressure on him then you might have a chance to win the game.
- #68 Chris Burnette 6’2 314Senior, Position- Guard
Grade: 60 Late 4th round grade.
Strength:
+ Knows how to use leverage and finish off a block. He is a mauler.
+ Reanchors really well . Does not get pushed back often.
+ Can get low and DRIVE!
Needs Improvement:
– Hand placement needs to get better if he wants to be a more effective blocker.
– Doesn’t turn his hips when he pulls. Makes him a little slow pulling to the second level
– Head gets down which causes him to whiff on blocks.
– Not as athletic so he is unable to square up his blocks at the second level.
– Will reach at times and gets out of control.
#88 Arthur Lynch: 6’5 254
Senior, Position- Tight End
Grade: 77 High 3rd round grade
Strength:
+ Able to sustain his block long enough to let big runs to happen or protect the quarterback a little longer.
+ Great lead blocker and can square up his blocks at the second level.
+ Athletic. He was flanked out at times.
+ Nice job of getting a good chip block against a defensive lineman.
Needs Improvement:
– Was part of a TE rotation in college. Never was THE guy.
– Turns his head to quick when he is going out for a route. Slows him down
– Does not get the ball in his hands as much as he should. (Week 1, didn’t get a catch until the game was out of reach)
#11 Aaron Murray: 6’1 201
Senior, Position- Quarterback
Grade: 66 Middle 4th round grade
Strength:
+ 4 year starter in college and made his own line calls
+ Understands zone defense and how to drop a pass in the soft part of the zone.
+ Nice job of hiding the football in his play action fake.
+ Got some grit in him. Just does whatever it takes to help the team win. either he will run the ball for a first down or throw a clutch pass on 4th down.
Needs Improvement:
– He did really well in pre snap reads but was horrible at post snap read. If you disguise then he can be fooled.
– Short in height so he struggles seeing over his offensive lineman
– Gets happy feet when you get pressure on him.
– Falls in love with a receiver and throws the ball to him too many times.
– Needs to KNOW what the play clock is at and get the snap off.
– 1-8 vs top 15 ranked team in college.
– His passes seem to die down at times.
– Does not force the ball down the field. Takes what the defense gives him.
#87 Jordan Matthews: 6’3 206
Senior, Position- Wide Receiver
Grade: 94 Middle 1st round grade
Strength:
+ Great hands. Can make spectacular catches
+ Wins jump ball situation. Just throw it up for him and he will make the catch.
+ Amazing route runner. Doesn’t have elite speed but he beats his man because of his footwork.
+ Such a strong lower body and can power for extra yards.
+ Knows how to use his body instead of pushing off or using his hands.
+ Nice job of using two feet and catching the ball on the sideline.
Needs Improvement:
– Understand where the sideline is and don’t let the defender push you out.
– Not very elusive and won’t make many people miss in the open field
