Senior, Position- Guard

Grade: 75 Middle 3rd round grade

Strength:

+ Does a nice job of moving his feet and staying in front of his block. He makes it very hard to get around him.

+ Able to reanchor and reload those hips to prevent getting pushed back.

+ Great understand of blitz pickup and taking the inside guy.

+ He is always the low man and can push the defender back on his own.

+ Really uses the defender momentum and takes them out of the play.

 

 

Needs Improvement:

– Needs to work on his cut blocking and getting his man on the ground.

– Work with his position coach on placement. Got to hit his man in the chest

– Must do a better job of pulling and squaring up the linebacker at the second level.

– Has trouble going out for a screen play and getting in front.

Senior, Position- Running Back

Grade: 87 Early 2nd round grade

Strength:

+ Does a nice of getting yards after contact. Always keeps driving his legs for extra yards.

+ Protects the ball very well and for some who gets gang tackled.

+ Can be used in the passing game. Good footwork on his route running and hands to catch the ball.

 

 

Needs Improvement:

– Need to switch hands when he runs down the sideline.

– Will bounce it to the outside instead of following his blocks.

– Too much stutter steps. Needs to one cut and go.

– Has to gain momentum to reach his top speed.

Senior, Position- Defensive End

Grade: 76 Middle 3rd round grade

Strength:

+ Executes the game plan and is not over aggressive.

+ His long arms allow him to shed blocks very well.

+ 4 point stance is low and he explodes off the ball

+ He is a physical beast and look like a man among boys.

+ Can not cut block. Able to push the block down and make a play on defense

 

 

Needs Improvement:

– His motor is not as high as you want it to be. Tends to quit on the play before its over.

– Was part of a rotation and couldn’t play through a whole game. Better condition.

– Needs to wrap up instead of going for the facemask.

#4 Justin Gilbert: 6’0 200

Senior, Position- Cornerback

Grade: 92 Late 1st round grade

Strength:

+ No double move will work on him. Just shadows his man and lets him dictate what he does.

+ Can be used in the return game and be great at it.

+ If he gets beaten then he has enough speed to recover.

+ Knows how to use his body against a receiver and not use his hands.

+ Always the first man down the field on punt defense.

+ Uses the sideline as part of his defense.

 

 

Needs Improvement:

– Get more physical with the receiver at the line of scrimmage.

– Shed his block better to be more effective against the run.

– Weak at situation awareness and how to defend at the down marker.

– Footwork needs some work. Has some problems breaking on a route

– Will get all turned around from time to time when he can keep it simple

Senior, Position- Safety

Grade: 66 Middle 4th round grade

Strength:

+ Will strip for the football if he is part of a gang tackle.

+ Great speed to move sideline to sideline.

+ Does not give away his assignment to the quarterback.

 

 

Needs Improvement:

– Sits in the middle of field and doesn’t impact the game.

– Got to take better angles on tackles since he is the last line of the defense.

– Very tentative against the run. He needs to attack when he reads run.

– Catches his eyes into the back field and will get himself out of position.

– Bites too hard on the play action and will be looking into the backfield .

– Football awareness is below average. You can trick him with window dressings.

Junior, Position- Wide Receiver

Grade: 71 Late 3rd round grade

Strength:

+ Elite speed and his team motion and try to put him in a mismatch against the defense.

+ For someone as small as he is, not afraid to hit and block down the field.

+ Get the ball in his hands and he can make people miss.

 

 

Needs Improvement:

– Catch the ball with his body and not with his hands.

– Corners can get physical with him and knock him off his route.

– Not a big target in the red zone. Unable to win those one on one battles.

– Played in an offense with no route progression or complicated playbook.
